What is Sustainability? UN1F1ED2 has adopted the definition of sustainability established by the World Commission on Environmental and Development (Brundtland Report) in 1987, that indicates sustainability is “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” What this means for UN1F1ED2, is that we will engage with our stakeholders to understand their interests and expectations and work proactively to manage and mitigate our impact on the environment and society, so we can continue to thrive over the long term.
What is a materiality assessment? A materiality assessment is the process UN1F1ED2 will use to identify, refine, assess and prioritize various environmental, social and governance issues along our value chain, with the potential to impact our stakeholders and performance over the long term. In general, the results of a materiality assessment are used to inform company strategy, goals and reporting. For UN1F1ED2 understanding the social, environmental and governance issues relevant to our business and stakeholders along our value chain, will inform our strategy and approach to sustainability to manage our impacts (negative and positive) over the long term.
What should I expect? We are inviting you to participate in an anonymous survey. The information you provide in this survey will be used to formalize our sustainability strategy and characterize our stakeholder relationships. As part of the process, we will also be conducting interviews with select external stakeholders to gain further insight. Additional information will be provided separately.
Why me? Materiality assessments help us identify and prioritize the most important issues to our organization and our stakeholders. As a key external stakeholder to UN1F1ED2 we would be grateful if you would share your views with us.
What happens with my inputs? This is an anonymous survey to assess stakeholders’ perceptions. The results will become an input to our overall materiality assessment.
How long will the survey take? The survey should take approximately 15 minutes and will be open until the end of July 2021.
